Corporate accountability for human rights and the environment in Europe
The project aims to advocate for sustainable legislation and foster a culture of economic fairness in Slovenia. Our primary objective for 2024 is the transposition of the CSDDD legislation, a crucial step towards achieving a more sustainable and equitable economy. As active members of the economic justice steering group, we participate in regular meetings with ECCJ Working Groups and other coalitions. With the support of funding, we can intensify our efforts both nationally and internationally, advocating for ambitious legislation and shaping the discourse on economic justice. Life COMET
Life COMET will catalyze the mapping and capacity building of community energy stakeholders across Eastern EU, with the aim of forming community energy coalitions on national levels. The project aims at shaping a future of enhanced community energy: collaborating to build strong national coalitions, elevating community energy to new heights, and enabling empowering frameworks and services for organisational growth and impact in Eastern EU. INCITE-DEM: Citizens Reinventing Democracy
The challenges of the transforming world test the capacity of our democracies in terms of democratic participation, political trust, and societal consensus. Citizen participation and co-creation processes are critical to support representative democracy processes and improve the quality of political decisions. New Horizon project INCITE-DEM aims at enhancing inclusive participation and civic engagement, while expanding democratic innovation and dynamic feedback mechanisms between citizens and institutional actors in representative democracies. Imported deforestation
DESCRIPTION and PURPOSE The European institutions are coordinating on the so-called Anti-Deforestation Regulation (Regulation on the import/export of certain product groups related to deforestation and forest degradation). Support for such a law is high, with 8 out of 10 Europeans supporting a ban on deforestation. Under the Regulation, companies importing/exporting and selling products in Europe will be obliged to carry out a mandatory due diligence process. RENOVERTY
RENOVERTY will foster energy efficiency building upgrades in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE)/Southeastern Europe (SEE) countries, as well as Southern European countries (SE), by setting the methodological and practical frame to build renovation roadmaps of vulnerable rural districts in a financially viable and socially just manner. The activities of the platform Enough for All – Sustainable Management of Community Resources for the period 2019–2026 take place in the framework of the LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE project (LIFE17 IPC/SI/000007). ENERGISE
ENERGISE recognises cultural change as a key ingredient in successful energy transitions. Individual energy consumption is a function of who we are, where we come from, and the socio-cultural and material contexts in which we live. Societal norms and routines with regard to work, education, family life, consumption and recreation greatly determine our patterns of energy use as well as our ability and/or willingness to change those patterns. Without a comprehensive understanding of these energy cultures, public policy measures to reduce energy consumption at the individual or household levels are likely to fail. ENGAGER
ENGAGER is a research network aimed at developing and strengthening an international community of researchers and practitioners focused on combating energy poverty – a condition typically manifested by the inability to secure adequate levels of domestic energy services (such as heating, lighting, cooling, appliances). ENGAGER brings together scholars and practitioners based both within and outside Europe who focus on various aspects of complex energy poverty challenges. The ENGAGER 2017-2021 COST Action seeks to bring about transformational change in the investigation and amelioration of household-level energy poverty in Europe. EMPOWERMED
EmpowerMed addresses the challenge of energy poverty in the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on the inclusion and empowerment of women. In the Mediterranean countries, coastal areas face a number of specific challenges in the field of energy poverty, mainly related to the thermal comfort of housing. Buildings are barely insulated, often with non-existing or very inefficient heating systems. The cooling component is an important element of energy poverty in these areas. Unify: Bringing the EU together on climate action aims to facilitate the effective and early transition of Member States across Europe to low carbon and resilient economies by unifying three key policy opportunities: programming of EU funds, National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), and national and the EU’s Long Term Strategies.
